Boxcars

Osoyoos, B.C.   2010

Located in the Town of Osoyoos, this 1850 square foot residence occupies a former railway bench, and presents itself as two volumes coupled by an external circulation space. These boxcars and coupler respond to the client’s need for distinctly public and private programs - public bed/ breakfast at the front, external circulation space, private dwelling. This solid/ void spatial strategy frames the surrounding mountains within the void spaces of the project, creating a dialogue with this rugged terrain, as the metrics of material and assembly act in counterpoint to nature.
